How to be Successful on the Team
I will have to monitor how everyone and everything is working much closer than I have in the past. Most people don’t like to be micromanaged and I really don’t like to do it. Do you need to be micromanaged?!?!
If you find that you are unable to keep up with requests, please let me know and I will try to make adjustments if I can. If I find things are not working, I will definitely let you know. I ask that you do the same. I am clear that no one works at capacity well if they don’t like what they are doing. My goal is for you to like working with me. 🙂
If you don’t know already, while there may be times when I am overwhelmed and short, I still pay attention to everything…at a fault. I notice small details and many other things that really get on my nerves! I recognize that everyone doesn’t work the same way I do…and I think that’s what makes a team, great. Working with 1 of ME all day is enough.
To be successful on the team:
- Overcommunicate…ask questions…understand what’s being asked.
- Don’t make executive decisions if you aren’t aware of its’ impact.
- If you cannot do something that you said you could/would bring it up immediately. I understand things happen…
- Give yourself a buffer when there is a deadline. Submit before the deadline. Your portion of a project may not be the entire project. Someone else may take it after you do your part.
- Acknowledge all messages and announcements.
- If something doesn’t align with your skillset, please say it quickly.
- Follow-up and check-in on the status of projects that you are working on.
- Be organized and pay attention to details
- Be intentional about learning our processes and systems…if you aren’t you will get lost and there may not be time to get you caught up
- Try not to make the same mistake more than 3 times. 🙂
- Be responsible for how you organize and track tasks. I can provide tools but you have to use them. If they don’t work for you, use something that does.
Don’t forget…
- You should all have access to our shared account (support@employandrelate.com)
- There are procedures and instructions in our “Team Announcement” area. You should get into the habit of logging onto the site.
- Save your documents on our shared drive
- Use “support@employandrelate.com” to send me emails. Please do not send me emails from a client’s email account.
Overall, growth and change are tough sometimes…we may be stretched in ways we didn’t even know we could be. Put your seatbelts on as we take this ride together. And if you need to be dropped off, again, just let me know…preferably after giving 2-weeks notice. 🙂
Thanks!
